PURSUE YOUR PASSION

There are two extremes of how we can live our lives. We can live a “reactionary life” where we are constantly “reacting” to our circumstances; or we can live a “life of action” where we pursue our passion while dealing with the circumstances of life. Our society is saturated with people living in the middle. It’s not a “bad” place to be; however, wouldn’t you rather pursue your dreams, than be buffeted to and fro by everyone and everything else? A wise man once described the situation like this, “Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a longing fulfilled is a tree of life.”(Proverbs 13:12). When we are unable or unwilling to “pursue our passion” it can create a real sense of depression; however, when we actively “pursue our passion” it unleashes within us the power of purpose. By creating a personal mission statement we are able to harness this power. It can catapult us from “a rut” to “a ridge”; it’s a treasure map through the murky mire of the mundane to the crystal clear waters of our passion.

My personal mission statement has guided me through tough times, by keeping my feet on solid ground when everything around me was falling apart. I review it almost daily to chart my course, to avoid obstacles and to give thanks for my many blessings. More than anything else it describes who I am; a Teacher.

 Take time for God everyday

Enjoy life with my wife

Advise my children on how to live godly lives

Continue a healthy lifestyle

Honor God by using my gifts

Encourage others to pursue God

Remember the brevity of life

CENTERING ON REAL-LIFE EFFECTIVENESS

A good teacher ends a lesson with a challenge to the students to apply what they have learned:

Are you living a “reactionary life” or a “life of action”?

Do you have a personal mission statement?

Are you following your passion?

Are you using your gifts?

I want to encourage every one of you to contemplate your answers to these questions. You might be surprised at how well you are doing; you might also be encouraged to make some changes. Remember the brevity of life; Start your personal quest today, “Pursue Your Passion”!

Have a great week and don’t forget to check your pulse!
